Fairy Tales

fairytale: a story about fairies; told to amuse childrenLately I've had Fairy Tales on my mind. Busy with other things, I had forgotten just how much I love fairy tales, fables and the fantasy genre.
.
In our house we are huge fans of Tinkerbell. The illustrations in the new Disney Fairies series are gorgeous and rich in darker colors which you can see in the above photo. Disney uses darker shades of colors in their fairy tales if you compare with others you'll notice the tie. The fairies are so pretty as they glitter and sparkle. luv it!

Disney also teamed up with manga experts TokyoPop to create a beautiful book illustrated by Haruhi Kato. I will have to put up photos in a seperate post because they are so great.

I think what I love most about the Fantasy genre is the lack of limits. Our earthly rules don't apply giving us free reign to come up with amazing creatures that can do things we can't. We can travel to places completely fabricated by our creativity. Your imagination can run wild and just go on and on . . .

Last year I co-wrote a Fantasy serial with the amazing and talented author J.R. Turner titled Letters to the 5th Direction. It was so much fun to write. Jenny, a true artist in every sense of the word created all of the illustrations. You can read the series on her blog and while you're there take a look around for contests and loads of writing tips.

You can check out all of J.R. Turner's great books HERE .
I highly recommend her DFF: Dead Friends Forever series. It's outta this world!

I totally agree with you regarding writing about the faery realm. As you said best, "Our earthly rules don't apply giving us free reign to come up with amazing creatures that can do things we can't......Your imagination can run wild and just go on and on . . ."
I love the fact that the faery realm is so deeply connected to nature. May you be given many special signs from them as you write about them!
Sending sunshine and faery magic your way,
Susanne
